受一致好评！“佛教英语交流基地”顺利完成海丝佛教活动翻译工作

经中国佛教协会委派，佛教英语交流基地组建由来东法师任团长，觉满法师任副团长，基地成员朱晓菲、吴致昕、赵钰、潘远梦、林观容、任芳芳、陈舜君、钟浩、杨雨晨、梁佩婷为队员的翻译团队，顺利完成2023年11月7日至11日在福建莆田广化寺成功举办的“第五届海丝佛教福建论坛暨福建佛学院创办40周年庆典活动”全程翻译工作任务。
The excellent translation team from English Base for Buddhist Exchange, or EBBE, led by the head Ven. Laidong, and the deputy head Ven. Jueman, completed the translation and interpretation tasks for the 5th Maritime Silk Road Buddhist Forum in Fujian and the 40th anniversary of the Buddhist Academy of Fujian held at Guanghua Temple in Putian, Fujian from November 7th to November 11th, 2023. The team was established under the appointment of the Buddhist Association of China, represented by Zhu Xiaofei, Wu Zhixin, Zhao Yu, Pan Yuanmeng, Lin Guanrong, Ren Fangfang, Chen Shunjun, Zhong Hao, Yang Yuchen, and Liang Peiting.
佛教英语交流基地来东法师、觉满法师，以及基地成员朱晓菲、吴致昕、赵钰此次活动为期5天，由主办方重要领导、海内外1000多位大德法师、多位著名专家学者共同出席，翻译工作时间紧、任务重、难度大。基地高度重视、周密部署、协调联动，采用口译、笔译、同传、交传等多种方式，对莆田欢迎晚宴、活动开闭幕式讲话致辞、“佛教教育国际化与文明互鉴”分论坛主旨发言、首届中国（莆田）佛教造像艺术展览会、福州欢迎晚宴及其他相关活动提供现场翻译支持。
The 5-day event, attended by influential leaders and over 1,000 venerable monks and scholars home and abroad, presented significant translation challenges due to a tight schedule and heavy workload. Hence, under meticulous planning and coordination, the base employed various methods, including simultaneous and consecutive interpretation, as well as written translation. These approaches ensured smooth on-site interpretation for events such as the welcome banquet in Putian, opening and closing ceremonies, the sub-forum on the Internationalization of Buddhist Education and Cross-cultural Exchange, the Buddhist Sculpture Art Exhibition, the welcome banquet in Fuzhou, and other related activities.
译团通过分工协作、多线联动、密切配合，共为第五届海丝佛教福建论坛暨福建佛学院创办40周年庆典相关活动提供文字稿件翻译约50篇，现场同传38场，交替传译7场，耳语同传5场。充分展示了佛教英语交流基地“服务三宝、弘扬佛法”主旨下，良好的形象威仪、精湛的专业技能、热情的工作态度，以及高度的责任心和使命感，获得了主办单位、与会来宾的交口称赞和一致好评。
Through teamwork, multi-line coordination, and close cooperation, the team translated around 50 articles and provided 38 simultaneous interpretations, seven consecutive interpretations, and five liaison interpretations. This highlighted their positive image, excellent professionalism, enthusiastic work attitude, as well as a strong sense of responsibility and mission in line with EBBE’s guiding principle—“Being committed to the Triple Gems”. The team received unanimous praise and compliments from the organizers and attendees.
佛教英语交流基地是由中国佛教协会主办、广东省佛教协会及广州光孝寺协办、珠海普陀寺承办，从2017年开始筹建，于2020年珠海普陀寺正式揭牌。基地旨在服务“一带一路”和“粤港澳大湾区”建设，讲好中国佛教故事，传播中国优秀传统文化。基地主要工作方向为：佛教经典书籍翻译、佛教外语人才培养、佛教英语课程研发、多语媒体平台搭建、对外交流活动开展。曾为世界佛教论坛、硕博法师恳谈会、中韩日佛教友好交流会提供翻译服务。基地每年开设佛教英语培训班，致力于为国际佛教交流培养输送优秀外语人才，其课程实用性强、互动性高，广受各界好评。
The EBBE is sponsored by the Buddhist Association of China, co-organized by the Guangdong Buddhist Association and Guangxiao Temple, and hosted by Putuo Temple in Zhuhai. Established in 2017 and officially inaugurated at Putuo Temple in Zhuhai in 2020, the base aims to support the Belt and Road Initiative and the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Its mission is to promote Chinese Buddhism and traditional Chinese culture. The base focuses on translating Buddhist texts, cultivating foreign language talents in Buddhism, developing Buddhist English courses, establishing a multilingual media platform, and conducting international exchange activities. It has provided translation services for events such as the World Buddhist Forum, Buddhist Seminars for Monastic Scholars, and the China-Japan-South Korea Buddhist Friendship Exchange Conference. The base offers practical and interactive Buddhist English training courses every year, earning widespread acclaim for its efforts in nurturing language talents for global Buddhist exchanges.

据来东法师分享：“此次翻译任务是一次难得的锻炼与提升自我的机会，非常感恩中佛协本次的委派，我们得以知悉佛教学术交流研讨会的相关流程、事项安排以及对译员技能、素质水平等多方面的具体要求。同时，通过本次活动，我们也充分了解到更多关于当前佛教中国化、佛教教育、中外佛教友好交流的学术动态、传播方式与文化内容，这将促使我们相应地调整自身的工作重心与发展方向，以利于更好地服务于高质量共建‘一带一路’国家战略，推动佛教中国化伟大进程，促进佛教与新时代社会主义社会相适应这一共同目标。”翻译团队成员们纷纷表示，通过此次活动开拓了人生阅历、锻炼了综合素质、提升了专业水平，希望未来能继续投身于相关的翻译工作中，为佛教中国化事业贡献新的力量。
Ven. Laidong, the head of the translation team, remarked, “These translation tasks provided a rare opportunity for personal growth and development. We are grateful for the appointment from the Buddhist Association of China, which enabled us to grasp the procedures of Buddhist academic seminars and requirements for our translators and interpreters. Through this event, we gained insights into the current dynamics, transmission channels, and contents of the sinicization of Buddhism, Buddhist education, and international Buddhist exchanges. This will prompt us to adjust our work focus and future direction to better serve the Belt and Road Initiative, advance the sinicization of Buddhism, and contribute to the common goal of aligning Buddhism with socialism in the new era.” Members of this team expressed that this event expanded their life experiences and enhanced their overall capabilities and professional competence. They hope to continue their involvement in related translation work in the future, contributing fresh energy to the sinicization of Buddhism.
